Pearl District

The Pearl is a model for urban neighborhoods throughout North America. It is a former industrial area turned into a hip and sophisticated townhome, loft and condo area with galleries, upscale shops and restaurants. Many old brick buildings such as warehouses have been converted to housing and a series of new, high-style condominium towers have made this once gritty area a model of Portland’s blend of housing with retail and business neighbors. The ultimate in convenience and a prime destination, The Pearl is a neighborhood featuring stylish boutiques, specialty retailers, grocery and book stores, up-and-coming art galleries and trendy restaurants. This is the place to live, shop, work and play.

The Portland Streetcar serves the Pearl District and runs a 4.8 continuous loop from the South Waterfront District to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital at NW 23rd Avenue. The Streetcar connects to the MAX rail line which runs from Downtown Portland to Gresham to the east and Hillsboro to the west.

World-class artists are emerging from Pearl District art galleries. First Thursday is a popular traditional event with galleries showcasing the best of local artists as well as live music and wine tasting.
